2019 KANAB ADVENTURE

Day 10
Back on the road again. Today's plan is Las Vegas, NV to Tehachapi, CA

Another mirror electricity generator. This time there are three towers.

Zzyzx (ZY-ziks), formerly Soda Springs is an unincorporated community in San Bernardino County, California within the boundaries of the Mojave Desert. Curtis Howe Springer made up the name in 1944, claiming it to be the last word in the English language.

Driving into Baker, CA. So glad we had mild weather passing through the Mojave desert.

Can't imagine you need a display with the temperture in the Mojave desert. Who doesn't know when it's hot? And when you know just how hot it is, does it make you feel cooler? Maybe?

Read one time when learning about mining ghost towns, people in the late 1800's thought power lines needed to be in a straight line so the electricity wouldn't fall off the wires and hurt people.
These were some power lines that were strung straight! It's good to know we are all safe.

Next stop, the Borax Visitor Center. Up close and first hand, we see where the famous 20 Mule Team Borax products are produced.

The Model A's are showcased in front of the mule team display.

That's a big chunk of boron.

The famous 20 Mule Team display.

If you would like this tire for a swing in your front yard, you'll need $28,450.

Next stop is the Mojave Air & Space Port.

Bone yard of airplanes, from the street and up in the air

Just across the street, a wrecking yard with automobiles.

•••
It's a natural occurrence, no need to be alarmed when we do roundabouts in the
intersection or at a cul-de-sac.

After arriving in Tehachapi, we visited the Apple Festival and found pie. Then we went to dinner. Twenty-eight SCVC members helped Village Grill make some decent numbers. And I found Prime Rib with a baked potato! Our friends Bill and Liz Cilker get credit for this great picture with most of seated to eat.
