Day One
San Jose, CA to Winnemucca, NV
415 miles

This trip is a little different from our usual trips in a Model A. This trip we are pulling our 1931 Slantwindow in an enclosed trailer. Our tight schedules to return to work prevent us from making the entire trip in our A. But that's not to say our trip is without adventure of or camaraderie with our fellow chapter members.

We rolled out of San Jose, cut through the San Joaquin valley, stopped in the foothills for lunch and pie at Ikeda's, then we took off over the Donner Summit before we dropped down into Nevada. From there, we ventured through the Great Basin where we stopped in Winnemucca for the night.
We enjoyed dinner with our friends at Martin's Hotel, a Basque restaurant, were we made new friends before returning to our rooms for the night.

Although uneventful from what we know as touring in a Model A, we saw lots of beautiful scenery and wild flowers in California and Nevada, there was wild life and once we passed through Reno, we noticed how Nevada has great highways. Today's drive was uneventful by most Model A standards, but a good part of the trip to Colorado is behind us.
